The much looked forward to Huntington Beach reenactment is approaching fast. It is time to start loading your wagons.

With a great showing of units from all reenacting organizations, civilians, suttlers, Saturday evening dance, as well as other activities, do not be one to have missed out on an annual great event.

Those pre-registered get their names checked off the list when they arrive on site and are on their way. Those having to register at the registration table will have to fill out forms at the time of registration.

Please note that no one is allowed to enter the park before 12:00 Noon  Friday. You will be asked to leave by the park and may cause unnecessary problems for future events. Please inform all in your command of this restriction to avoid unnecessary unpleasantness. Your cheerful cooperation is appreciated in advance.

The registration packet of information notes:

2. All vehicles must park in the Ocean View High School parking lot.
3. Please do not drive on the grass when unloading vehicles and trailers.
4. Upon arrival, go to the pre registration table in the suttler area. You will be checked off the list and given your tickets for raffle.
5. Registration is $5.00 per reenactor / participant.
6. Parking permits will be issued t at the registration table.
7. ALL reenactors / participants must register to participate.

Reenacting Community,

The Huntington Beach Historical Society (HBHS) is once again hosting one of the most looked forward to events of the year and the event date is fast approaching; September 5-6.

This event is an invitational event, open to all reenactors from any organization, and those participating as independents. Everyone is welcome and your participation enables the Historical Society to continue hosting this quality event. Comfortable weather in the midst of a metropolitan area, yet, in a park setting, has all the ingredients for a great weekend.

Please mark your calendar, talk to those in your commands, or your pards in the ranks about attending. We have always had a great time at this event.

Additional information, maps, weather, updates can be found on the www.hartsengineers.com website. Go the Event Schedule, Central Park. Check that website from time to time for update information.

Registration packets have been mailed to past participants. Registration forms will also be available on the website www.hartsengineers.com. In addition there you will find a NonProfit Registration form for groups requiring booth space; and the Reenactor Registration Letter.

The earliest reenactors can enter the park is 12:00 noon on Friday September 4, 2009. This time is set by The Huntington Beach Park policy. This means, do not drive or walk into the park prior to 12:00 noon. This also means don’t enter the park from the library, west, north, south, or east pathways thinking this instruction does not pertain to you.

This policy has to do with park employee access to the park to do their work, as well as them exiting the park when their work day is complete. This is not possible if reenactors are inside the park. You are asked and expected to respect the park policy.

The only exception to this is the Confederate commander, Col. Settle, and Federal commander, Col. Fradella. These two individuals have been specifically asked by the park and the Huntington Beach Historical Society to set up prior to 12:00 noon so they can then oversee the reenactors arrival and direct them to the designated areas for their camp.

Any reenactor other than Col. Settle and Col. Fradella that enters the park early, drops off their gear or sets up their camp prior to 12:00 noon on Friday September 4, will:

  •  Have their camp struck and gear removed from the camp area.

·       Not be allowed to set up their camp until their Division commander personally approves them to do so.

·         Have their name(s) given to the Huntington Beach Historical Society so that before the weekend is over they and their unit, battalion, and brigade commander will have a conversation with the HBHS regarding the uncooperative behavior and how it negatively affects the relationship between the HBHS and the Huntington Beach Park policy.

Brigade, Battalion and Company officers are to ensure that everyone gets the word out on this as we do not want to start a good weekend by having to deal with this disregard for Park policy. Ample time is provided to set up camps between Friday noon, and the beginning of the event on Saturday. There is no need to cause any problems regarding this by sneaking into the park early.

Please be mindful of the irrigation sprinklers and that no one is to drive on the grass. Each year the HBHS has to pay the park for damaged irrigation sprinklers. This is money better left to the HBHS for their important work.

The Huntington Beach Historical Society and Huntington Beach Park work very hard to provide you a well organized and friendly event. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.

Please forward this message to your own reenactor email list so the Huntington Beach Historical Society gets the maximum distribution to as many reenactors as possible.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to seeing everyone there for a great 2009 Huntington Beach event.
